Download and install the Capture.U app
Minimum compatible specification:
- iOS 10 and BLE 4.2 devices: iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, iPad 2018, iPad Mini 4 and early iPad Pros. Also iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 check this is staying
- iOS 12 and BLE 5.0 devices: iPad Air 2019, iPad mini 2019, iPad Pro 12.9, iPad Pro 11 inch (some imminent - check). Also iPhone 8 and iPhone X and later. check this is staying
To install Capture.U:
Download the Vicon Capture.U app from the App Store to your iPad. iOS device if we're adding iPhones?
Capture.U supports only Vicon Blue Trident sensors. Blue Thunder sensors are not supported.
Attach sensors to the subject
Discuss wording with KD - where this section should go. Also, presumably not always secured with straps (eg when attached to sacrum, etc)?
Insert each sensor into its strap with the IMU symbol facing outwards.

Choose a capture mode
On your iOS device, start Capture.U and choose a capture mode.
Your choice of capture mode depends on the number of sensors you want to use, the range you require and the type of output you want:
- For unlimited range and up to 16 sensors (tbc), choose To Sensor. After you have captured the data, download it to your Mac or PC for analysis with Capture.U Desktop.
- For data that is saved straight to your device (where capture range is constrained by the Bluetooth® range of the device), choose one of the other capture modes.
In both cases, you can capture at up to 1600 Hz for the high (200) G sensor, 1125 Hz for the lower (16) G sensor.
The capture modes are explained in more detail in the following sections:
Capture to sensor (Blue Trident)
Choose this mode when you want a high sensor count and unlimited range, eg track performance (ie capture data from) of multiple athletes running a marathon, etc. After capture, you download the data from the sensors to your Mac or PC to analyze your data with Capture.U Desktop.

To install Capture.U Desktop on your Mac or Windows PC:
- Check that your PC or Mac meets the minimum requirements (see XREF).
- Download Capture.U Desktop from www.vicon.com/downloads/software.
- Unzip? and double-click the .exe file to install.
To download the data from your sensors:
Check order of steps
- Insert the sensors into their adapters.
- With the supplied Micro-USB cables, connect the adapters to the PC or Mac. (any limit on how many at a time?)
- Start Capture.U desktop.
Capture to device
Choose this mode when you need a higher sensor count than Real-Time Insight. You can use the same capture rate as To sensor, but within the Bluetooth range of the device. You can use video reference.

Choose this mode when you want to use real-time video and real-time overlay, but without being constrained by the pre-configured(check?) settings of the Activity Widgets. You can define your own indicator levels (ie, set a threshold for alerts). For example, you can choose to be notified by a sound when a specified level is reached, so that you can easily identify when an athlete hits a ball hard enough, etc. Example use: coach and athlete want to review performance data over multiple trials together on iPad, then coach sends athlete a report of what was reviewed.

- IMU data RT
- Video data real-time overlay - lets you watch graphical data as a subject moves. You can then save a video to your device (iPad, etc) and/or export the data as CSV, or generate a report as a PDF - applies to all modes?
- 3 acceleration or gyroscope

This mode is great for undergraduate research projects, grass-roots sports, etc, eg to look at fitness, etc - where a quick assessment with minimal/no user setup is required. You use pre-defined workflows that have output metrics. You can export reports or actual (CSV?) data.
(In example of using this widget for real-time coaching, we say (https://trello.com/c/hzxLk63D) it's great for immediately reviewing video (eg coach with athlete) as soon as activity is finished and giving feedback on possible improvements. 'Not concerned with keeping, exporting, collating data'. Confirm we can export reports/data once finalised widgets available.)
More complex example of use of multiple Vicon products: sports researcher/undergrad uses widget to collect trials easily, then performs further data analysis using Capture.U Desktop?

- Select widget - set-up: subject, sensor and example of requirement movement (examples and sensor placement use gifs).

Measures the velocity curve of a freestyle swimmer over 100 m.
Place one sensor in the togs, just above the sacrum.
- Instantaneous velocity curve of a freestyle swimmer over a 100m swing (4 x 25m lengths)
Measures angles between the C7 and sacrum and global angles of the C7.
Place two sensors, one near C7 and one on sacrum.
- Counter rotation angles of an athlete (angle difference between C7 and sacrum sensors in 3 axes)
- Global angles of the C7 sensor
Records immediate maximum velocity, concentric power and force, plus velocity, power and force metrics over time.
Place a single sensor on weight bars.

- When Capture.U is used on iPhones, it is displayed in portrait mode only. (see CAP-47)
