NB Following notes are totally GUI-based at present. Rewrite to be task-based. Should cover anything useful for users that we haven't had room to document in either the app itself or in the Quick Start guide.

Capture.U app

Supports only Blue Trident, not Blue Thunder (do we need this as a note somewhere?)

Mention (re Blue Trident): IP68 rated, Bluetooth 5.0 (4.2 currently)

Capture modes

To sensor = unlimited range, rest = constrained by Bluetooth range of device.

For both sensor and device, up to 1600 Hz for the high (200) G sensor, 1125 Hz for the lower (16) G sensor.

Capture to sensor (Trident)

For use when high sensor count wanted, eg track performance (ie capture data from) of multiple athletes running a marathon, etc. No worries about range, all 12-axis, etc.

Capture to device

For use when higher sensor count than Realtime Insight needed, all 12-axis, same capture rate as To sensor, but within the bounds (Bluetooth range) of the device. Enables you to use video reference.

Realtime insight

For users that want realtime video and realtime overlay, but without being constrained by the activity widgets. For users who want to define their own indicator levels. Can set indicator/alert levels (bit like Nexus monitors). Can indicate level breached by sound, etc, so can easily identify when athlete hits ball hard enough, etc.

  • Video data realtime overlay - watch graphical data as subject moves. Can then save video to device (iPad, etc) and/or export the data as CSV, or generate a report as a PDF - applies to all modes?

Activity Widget

Great for undergraduate research projects, grass-roots sports, etc, eg to look at fitness, etc - where a quick assessment with minimal/no user setup. Pre-defined workflows that have output metrics. You can export reports or actual (CSV?) data.

(In example of using this widget for real-time coaching, we say (https://trello.com/c/hzxLk63D) it's great for immediately reviewing video (eg coach with athlete) as soon as activity is finished and giving feedback on possible improvements. 'Not concerned with keeping, exporting, collating data'. Confirm we can export reports/data once finalised widgets available.)

Realtime streaming: Sprinting, jumping, swimming, etc. (What are Power Meter and Counter Rotation for?) Final list to be confirmed.

Sprinting

Place one sensor only near sacrum.

Outputs/Data collected:

  • Instantaneous velocity over a 40 m sprint (m/s)
  • Time to peak velocity (s)

Jumping

Place one sensor only near sacrum.

Outputs/Data collected:

  • Velocity of jump (m/s)
  • Acceleration (m/s/s)
  • Height of each jump (lengths for broad jump) (m)
  • Max velocity of each jump (m/s)
  • Duration: length of time from start to end, in seconds
  • Indexes: start, dip, peak, dip, end of jumps
  • Eccentric contraction times in seconds
  • Concentric contraction times in seconds

Swimming

Place one sensor in the togs, just above the sacrum.

Outputs/Data collected:

  • Instantaneous velocity curve of a freestyle swimmer over a 100m swing (4 x 25m lengths)

Counter Rotation

Place two sensors, one near C7 and one on sacrum.

Outputs/Data collected:

  • Counter rotation angles of an athlete (angle difference between C7 and sacrum sensors in 3 axes)
  • Global angles of the C7 sensor

Power Meter

Place a single sensor on weight bars.

Outputs/Data collected:

  • Velocity curve vs. time
  • Power curve vs. time
  • Force curve vs. time
  • Max velocity
  • Max (concentric) power
  • Max force
